Six Flags Hurricane Harbor opened in 2000, but it's history goes back much further, with proposals for a waterpark on property dating back to the mid 1990's after the Adventure Rivers section of the park debuted, and theme parks around the country continued adding waterslides and even entire waterparks to the offerings.   Finally in 1999, construction began and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor at Great Adventure made the leap from the drawing boards to reality.
