The 2002 season of Fright Fest was in many ways a year of getting "back to normal" after the previous year's festivities were toned down and more subdued with the recent events of September 11th still looming large in the hearts and minds of the public. Many of the attractions and events were holdovers from previous years with some embellishments and enhancements thrown in to keep them fresh. The event was sponsored by the Seasonal World store just up the road from the park entrance on Route 537. A temporary store was set up in the park's Outer Mall area selling Halloween stuff from Seasonal World as guests entered and exited the park. One of the highlights of the 2002 Fright Fest was the first appearance of Professor Zombini, a professional side show performer from Coney Island. Performer Todd Robbins who played Professor Zombini put on a great show and returned for several seasons bringing other side show artists with him to do things like eat glass, drive nails in their noses and swallow swords. Attendance for Fright Fest continued to climb with the weekends closest to Halloween often drawing capacity crowds, filling both the theme park and Hurricane Harbor parking lots.
