News & Notes: Splashwater Falls, an O.D. Hopkins Shoot-the-Chutes ride made its debut in Spring of 1987.   Six Flags introduced several Splashwater Falls rides the same season at parks nationwide, with a great ad campaign using the song "Splish Splash" for a jingle.   The season was marred by several incidents Easter Sunday, which resulted in the park introducing metal detectors at the front gate, along with other increased  security measures.

At the end of the season, the Tilt-A-Whirl is removed from the Hernando's Hideaway section.
