One of the most important and often overlooked parts of a theme park are the restrooms which need to be located conveniently throughout the property so guests can find them easily (and quickly!).

With the addition of the Adventure Rivers area in 1991, new support facilities were added as part of the major new themed area. At the rear of Adventure Rivers the Koala Canyon restrooms were added to provide additional restroom facilities convenient to the new attractions, as well as to create changing rooms and showers for the water play area and a satellite First Aid Station. The restrooms received theme elements to compliment the Koala Canyon area.

The restrooms operated seasonally along with the Koala Canyon play area, open mostly during the peak summer season, and closed in the spring and fall. The majority of the Adventure Rivers attractions were removed after the 1998 season, but Koala Canyon remained at the back of the new Looney Tunes Seaport area of the park when it opened in 1999 as part of Great Adventure's "War on Lines". The addition of an entire kids area increased traffic to the restrooms with more families making use of them while enjoying the array of attractions.

Over time the number of attractions dwindled in Looney Tunes Seaport, and at the end of the 2006 season Koala Canyon was removed from the park.  This coincided with a partial makeover of the children's section when Wiggle's World was added to the park in 2007 which saw several of the Looney Tunes Seaport rides repurposed as part of the new section.

With the elimination of Koala Canyon, the entranceway to the restrooms was repositioned to the rear of the building cutting through the site of what was once the Hand Crank ride.

The Jersey Devil Coaster was announced in 2019 as the new addition for 2020, and the area around it which had been part of the Looney Tunes Seaport was slated for a makeover to become The Pine Barrens, with a woodland park theme. The new coaster and themed area would be delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic, and finally opened to the public in 2021 along with the made over restrooms. The updated restrooms were modernized and painted in colors to match the new roller coaster.
