The 2016 season of Fright Fest saw many new things added including new set pieces and new shows. The new set pieces were a continuation of the improvements begun in 2015, and brought new color and excitement to the event. The shows introduced for Fright Fest 2016 were also more edgy than previous years taking on more adult humor and themes. This was following the model of parks like Universal that host Halloween Horror Nights, which is a very adult oriented event featuring shows for "mature" audiences with adult humor. With Fright Fest being open to all ages and despite warnings of adult humor, the shows would be slightly toned down after guest's feedback. This season also saw the A-WAKEning and Dead Man's Party moving into the Stunt Arena in Movie Town with seating now available for the show featuring a brand new set.
