With the management of Six Flags under Red Zone, in park advertising became a more important part of the operation and Fright Fest was a big part of that. M&M Mars candy became a sponsor for Six Flags and with Halloween as a big candy holiday it was a logical choice for cross promotion. This year was the first that it was billed as "Six Flags Fright Fest presented by Snickers," with several of the trails and attractions being sponsored by the M&M brand candies. After several seasons of scaled back events, this year saw several new attractions and an increased emphasis on the scarier attractions that had made Fright Fest a big deal in the past. This year also featured the Ghoulmaster in his own show for the first time. One of the most popular performers from the A-WAKEning, the Ghoulmaster's  performance set the tone for Fright Fest each night. This new dance show took place at the Fountain several times nightly.
