Rides geared towards children generally are a variation on
transportation or spinning rides (either horizontal or vertical), with
manufacturers always looking to create unique versions of the ride
experience.

The Michigan J.
Frog Fun Flotilla was Great Adventure's second kiddie boat ride, offering
the youngest guests a gentle ride in little boats in their own little
pool. Unlike the original kids boat ride which opened with the park in
1974 as part of the Ride-A-Rama children's area, the Fun Flotilla boats
were more elaborately themed with canopies and smokestacks.

Added in 1999 as part
of Great Adventure's "War on Lines", the Fun Flotilla was one of the
brand new rides added as part of the new Looney Tunes Seaport
area.
The exact location of the boat ride in the area was altered several
times before opening as designers determined the best placement of the
rides to optimize traffic flow and mixture of ride experiences. |

While the Fun
Flotilla was a popular ride and one of the most fitting with the Seaport
theme, its ridership was limited to the smallest kids. Unlike all the
other rides in Looney Tunes Seaport, adults were not allowed to ride the
Fun Flotilla with their children.
In 2008, the
ride was removed in favor of streamlining capacities and keeping
attractions that could be ridden by everyone. The ride's former pool area was turned into a
round floral planter. |
