News & Notes: The "new" ride for 1990 was actually a used ride from Six Flags Magic Mountain. The Shockwave stand-up coaster was moved to Great Adventure after two years of operation in California, as part of the Six Flags "ride rotation" program. Shockwave was located on the former site of the Miniature Marvels and later the Mini Golf course, which sat unused the previous season. The ride was plagued with operation problems requiring delayed openings (at noon) each weekday as the maintenance crew worked. The park went all out for the Bugs Bunny 50th Birthday celebration, with events, and even a convertible with the 50th Birthday logo on its hood for parades in the park and around the region. |
