The 34th Season Overview
Please note, this page is still under construction with more information and
links being added in the coming weeks.

The 2007 season was a time to get back to the basics at Great Adventure and at all Six Flags parks, with an emphasis on staffing, maintenance and security.   The result was improved guest satisfaction throughout the season.   A major factor in making the improvements was the constancy of park management, with Mark Kane at the helm for a full season.   After a season with four people in the General Manager position, the lack of consistency took its toll on moral, and by all accounts, Mark Kane has done a fantastic job of improving the spirits of the staff, and it is reflected in the way the employees do their jobs.

While in other seasons the staff started out strong, and eventually seemed to loose the spirit of customer service, this year the staff was consistent from opening day to the always challenging last days of the season.   The friendliness of the staff, and the improved efficiency combined with adequate staffing levels led to more rides and attractions open more of the time.

Also, a major improvement was made in ride maintenance, with more rides running more consistently, more of the time.   Kingda Ka and El Toro which had been problematic in previous seasons both ran with fewer problems and briefer periods of downtime.   The exception to this was the ever-problematic Chiller which was reprofiled and ran briefly opened before suffering further problems and finally a decision was made to cut the loss and remove the coaster.

The most fundamental change was made at the end of 2006, when company wide a “Guest code of Conduct” was put in place.   The new rules were made clear to all who entered the park, and a zero tolerance policy with increased enforcement improved the atmosphere of the park.   The new policy enforcement resulted in hundreds of ejections from the park for rule breakers.   Problems with line cutting, smoking, bad language, and other quality of life issues were reduced, which meant guests felt safer.

New attractions for the 2007 season were family oriented, with the new Wiggles World section and the Safari Exploration Station.   Also new for the season were Johnny Rockets and Coldstone Creamery, both of which drew guests for their well known quality products.   For the teens a new Thursday Night Concert Series brought popular new artists to the park, and drew crowds.   The largest crowds of the season came for Fright Fest, which benefited from a warmer than average October.

Other changes in the park included the new parking gates, which experienced a few hiccups in the early weeks of operations.   New advertising throughout the park was added throughout the season, with signs and banners for several sponsors filling the scenery.   A fundamental shift in the park's shows come with  the park opting not to use some of its larger show venues this season, instead offering street performers throughout the park which provided an up close and interactive experience for the guests.

All in all the season was a big success in improving the park’s reputation and now the pieces are in place to keep moving forward and building upon that success for the 2008 season and beyond.
